Workday on Sunday

The property is drying pretty quickly.  I will get be starting around 8.  My plan for Sunday is to do some cutting, but mostly walking the property and get some input from the people who will be riding the trails.  Post up here is you can make it up.  Thanks

Looking good for the weekend

Temps have been fairly warm, and the snow has stayed away for a few days.  I will check the trails this evening to see how much snow is still sitting on them and I will post up this evening as to whether the trail day will take place this sunday.

Internet is Back up

Sorry for the interruption in communication.  I have included a picture of the storm that took out our internet and phones.  Our ISP finally got us up and running last night.  I will be up here working on the trail, weather permitting of course, this weekend if anybody feels like digging on a holiday weekend.  Otherwise, we will reschedule the workday for the following weekend.   Thanks

12″

Hello all,

We got about 12 inches of snow which took out our power, which took out our internet, which has knocked out or phones.  I had to drive down to Peaceful Valley to borrow some internet.

I don’t believe that the snow will melt out of the trees by sunday so the workday is unfortunately off.  I will try to work out a weekend to reschedule in the near future.  Thank you all for your interest.

Fingers Crossed

We’ve got an upslope rollin’ in.  I hope it doesn’t do much.  However, we need the moisture.  Ill keep everyone updated for Sunday.  Thanks, Austen

Sunday, April 17 Roll Call

Just wanting to get an idea of how many people to expect, so post up here and let me know.  Thanks to everyone who is showing interest in this project.

I will have water on site but please bring a bottle so we won’t have foam cups flying all over the place (as I am sure you know, it can be windy).

HEADS UP!!

It isn’t really advertised anywhere on our website, but we offer mountain bike rentals.  Our sizes start at 15″ and go up to 19″.  We are receiving a shipment of NEW Rocky Mountain hardtails sometime this month from our friends at Golden Bike Shop.

Our primary use for our bikes is introducing our summer camp kids to mountain biking.  However, it is an expensive program to run,  so we offer our bikes as rentals.  All rental fees go right back into our mountain bike program for improvements and repairs.

So, once this trail is finished, bring someone up and introduce them to mountain bikes.

Update

I didn’t get much more accomplished yesterday.   TOO cold and windy.  I have the next 1/2 mile flagged out so I have plenty to do.   I put tires to the finished section of trail yesterday, it flows well but I need to adjust a few corners.     It’s going to be a good ride!!

Questions

If anyone has any type of question about the project please subscribe to this blog and ask all questions as comments.  My main reasoning for this is that, for whatever reason, mtbr.com forums run very slow and inconsistent for me.  It takes too much time and patience for me to respond there.    Thanks

COLD and WINDY

I had a feeling that with the beautiful weather yesterday, we would end up paying for it today.  Strong, steady winds out of the west and blowing snow.  Thankfully, I have worked my way down out of the wind and into the sun.

I am currently bench cutting a climb through a heavy rock garden.  The plan is too thin it out quite a bit and leave the really rocky sections for downhill slopes.  It has taken most of the morning to cut all of about 60 feet of trail, but it will be worth it in the end.

Pictures to come later
